I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 8 years old. One thing that helped in those early years was an all-diabetes summer camp — a place full of kids who just got it. But camp only lasted a few weeks a year. The rest of the time, I had to figure things out myself.
That's exactly what I've spent the years since doing. I've traveled alone through Europe, gone backpacking and camping more times than I can count, and built systems that let me feel calm and prepared instead of anxious every time I leave the house. Diabetes — or celiac — doesn't have to mean your world gets smaller. It means learning to plan a little differently. Then you can go anywhere.
Now I help people do the same: the newly diagnosed person who feels like their world just shrank, and the parents trying to figure out how to support their kid without smothering them. My goal is for you to feel confident, less stressed, and genuinely excited about what's still possible — including travel.
