Coaching for life with diabetes and celiac — from someone who's actually lived it.

Peer coaching, lived experience

Diabetes shouldn't make your world smaller.

I'm Cole. I've lived with type 1 diabetes for 18 years — and I help newly diagnosed people and their families feel confident again, especially when it comes to travel.

"The hospital sends you home. Everyone's there for the diagnosis — almost no one's there for what comes after."

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 8 years old. One thing that helped in those early years was an all-diabetes summer camp — a place full of kids who just got it. But camp only lasted a few weeks a year. The rest of the time, I had to figure things out myself.

That's exactly what I've spent the years since doing. I've traveled alone through Europe, gone backpacking and camping more times than I can count, and built systems that let me feel calm and prepared instead of anxious every time I leave the house. Diabetes — or celiac — doesn't have to mean your world gets smaller. It means learning to plan a little differently. Then you can go anywhere.

Now I help people do the same: the newly diagnosed person who feels like their world just shrank, and the parents trying to figure out how to support their kid without smothering them. My goal is for you to feel confident, less stressed, and genuinely excited about what's still possible — including travel.

Who this is for

For the person living it, and the family around them.

For T1D & celiac individuals

You want to feel like yourself again

Whether you're newly diagnosed or just tired of feeling limited, we'll work through what's actually frustrating you right now and build a real plan — for daily life, and for the adventures you've been putting off.

For parents & families

You want to support without smothering

Caring for a diabetic or celiac kid is its own kind of stress. We'll talk through what to watch for, how to hand over independence at the right pace, and how to feel calmer as a family.

How I work

I'm not your doctor, dietitian, or certified diabetes educator. I'm someone who's lived this for 18 years and figured it out.

In our sessions, we start with what's actually frustrating you right now — then build a real, doable plan together, with room for the feelings that come with it too.

Questions

Good to know before you reach out.

Is this covered by insurance?

No — peer coaching isn't a medical service, so it isn't billed through insurance. Sessions are paid directly, which is part of what keeps this accessible and flexible compared to clinical care.

How is this different from seeing my endocrinologist or a certified diabetes educator?

I'm not a replacement for your medical team — keep seeing your doctor or CDE for anything clinical. What I offer is different: someone who has actually lived with T1D for 18 years, who can talk through the day-to-day reality, the emotional side, and the practical stuff (like travel) that a 15-minute appointment usually doesn't have room for.

Do you work with kids, or just adults?

Both. I coach adults, teens, and kids 8 and up directly, and I also offer parent coaching — either alongside their child's sessions or on its own, for parents who want support figuring out how to help without taking over.

Are sessions in person or online?

Both, depending on what works for you. Many clients do video calls, and in-person sessions are available too — just mention your preference when you reach out or book.

What if I just have one quick question — do I need a full package?

Not at all. Single sessions are available for exactly that. Book a free intro call and we'll figure out together whether one conversation covers it or whether ongoing coaching makes more sense.

What age is Travel Prep for?

Any age — individuals planning their own trip, or parents preparing for a family trip with a T1D or celiac kid. We build the plan around whoever's actually traveling.
